100% virgin oak. The densest and strongest-smoking of the range. The choice for beef and lamb, and for biomass heating where refill frequency matters.
Beech Pellets — £700/tonne
100% virgin beech. The mildest. Continental Europe’s traditional wood for smoked fish, cheese, sausage and charcuterie.
Mixed Hardwood Pellets — £700/tonne
Blended oak and beech. The general-purpose option — balanced smoke, good density, works across substrate, smoking and heating.
Masters Mix Pellets — £750/tonne
60% oak, 40% soya hull, pre-blended for mushroom substrate. Hydrate and sterilise — no weighing, no blending, no ratio drift between batches.
All are 6mm, kiln dried to under 10% moisture, supplied in 15kg sealed bags on a pallet of approximately one tonne. No bark, no binders, no additives. Compare all four side by side.
What people use them for
Hardwood pellets for mushroom substrate
HWFP is the standard hardwood supplement for bulk substrate. Hydrate at roughly 1:1 by weight and it collapses into clean hardwood sawdust — no binders to inhibit colonisation. Suits oyster, lion’s mane, shiitake and reishi. Or skip the blending entirely and take the pre-mixed Masters Mix.
Oak and beech pellets for BBQ and smoking
Clean hardwood smoke for pellet grills, smoker tubes and cold smoke generators. Bark-free and dry, which is the difference between thin blue smoke and the acrid stuff. A fraction of the cost of branded retail bags.
Wood pellets for biomass heating
Denser than softwood, so more energy per hopper and fewer refills. Check your appliance accepts hardwood before switching — not all of them do, and we would rather tell you that up front.

Why buy by the tonne
Buying pellets in small bags is expensive twice over — a retail markup on the product and a carriage charge on every order. A pallet removes both. At £700 delivered you are paying £10.50 per 15kg bag with nothing added at checkout, against £8–14 per bag retail before delivery, or £20–30 for branded BBQ pellets. Full price comparison.
Stored dry and off the ground, pellets do not degrade. A tonne is not a perishable commitment — it is a buffer against running out.
How ordering works

- We confirm and book the pallet with the carrier.
- The carrier notifies you of your delivery date, typically 3–5 working days out.
- Kerbside delivery by tail-lift vehicle. Someone needs to be there to sign.

How much is a tonne of wood pellets?
£700 including VAT and UK mainland delivery for oak, beech or mixed hardwood — £583.33 excluding VAT. Masters Mix is £750 including VAT (£625 ex VAT). There are no carriage charges or fuel surcharges on mainland orders. See how that compares.
How many bags are in a tonne of pellets?
Approximately 66 bags at 15kg each, supplied shrink-wrapped on a single pallet.
What is the minimum order?
One tonne — one pallet. That is where wholesale pricing starts to make sense against buying bags retail.
Do you deliver to Scotland, the islands or Northern Ireland?
Mainland Scotland is covered by the standard price. The Scottish Highlands, offshore islands, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands fall outside it — we can usually still deliver, but get in touch for a quote.
How long do wood pellets last in storage?
Indefinitely, provided the bags stay sealed, dry and off the ground. Pellets that absorb moisture swell and crumble, so keep the pallet under cover.
What is the difference between hardwood and softwood pellets?
Hardwood is denser, so it carries more energy per pellet and burns longer. Softwood heating pellets are cheaper per tonne, but cannot be used for smoking food or mushroom substrate. Full comparison in hardwood vs softwood pellets.
