Hardwood pellets

Oak Pellets — 1 Tonne

Single-species oak. The densest of the range, which means more energy per hopper in a boiler and a longer steadier burn in a smoker. The traditional wood for beef and lamb — medium-strong, clean, slightly sweet, without the sharpness of hickory.

£700 per tonne inc VAT, delivered. View product →

Beech Pellets — 1 Tonne

Single-species beech. The mildest we stock and the most forgiving — hard to over-smoke with. Continental Europe’s traditional wood for smoked fish, cheese, sausage and charcuterie, and the right choice for long cold smokes where oak would accumulate too heavily.

Mixed Hardwood Pellets — 1 Tonne

Oak and beech blended into a single pellet. The pragmatic default if you have no strong species preference, or if you are using pellets across more than one application and would rather not stock two pallets.

Mushroom substrate

Masters Mix Pellets — 1 Tonne

Supplemented substrate pre-blended at 60% oak to 40% soya hull, so every bag is identical and there is no ratio drift between production runs. Hydrate, sterilise, inoculate.

Note this must be sterilised, not pasteurised — the soy hull raises the nutrient load considerably. See the Masters Mix guide before ordering.

Not sure which to order?

  • Growing mushrooms? Masters Mix if you want it pre-blended and can sterilise properly; oak or mixed hardwood if you blend your own. See the substrate guide.
  • Smoking food? Oak for red meat, beech for fish and cheese, mixed for a varied menu. See oak vs beech.
  • Heating a building? Oak for maximum density and fewest refills — but read hardwood vs softwood first, because softwood may genuinely be the better buy for you.
  • Reselling? Get in touch — pricing changes above four pallets.

What every price includes

  • One tonne — approximately 66 bags at 15kg, shrink-wrapped on a pallet

  • No carriage charge, no fuel surcharge

Highlands, offshore islands, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands fall outside the standard rate — ask for a quote. Access requirements and full terms on the delivery page.
